We are open!
We are happy to inform all our guests that we have re-opened our hotel and restaurant. The eruption that started on the evening of August 22 is located in a way that even though it is still active it is not posing any threat to the infrastructure in our area.
Since we are located in a seismically active area, changes in activity are to be expected. We always prioritize safety for our guests and staff and we have detailed measures in place, if the need arises.
The country is well-prepared, featuring advanced preparedness protocols and is equipped with highly experienced geoscientists who have extensive knowledge in managing volcanic activities. Experts at the Icelandic Meteorological Office continue to closely monitor the area.
We are looking forward to opening again and are ready to welcome you to Northern Light Inn & Max’s Restaurant.

We are greatly thankful for all the support and positive reviews, like the ones below from our guests that stayed at the hotel the last few weeks. We are also thankful for the countless emails we have received all over the world from former guests, sending us good thoughts and prayers. We can’t thank you enough as this is giving us immense strength to get through these challenging times we have had this year.
We have had 6 eruptions in our area since December last year. The eruption that started on August 22 and is still active, is at the best location possible. There is no threat of any infrastructure in our area, and our guests can view active lava on their way to us. The best view is actually from road no. 41 where it connects with road no. 43 leading to us.
To our guests that have booked a stay with us we would like to say, our focus is always first and foremost on safety for our guests and staff at all times. We are happy to be open and are looking forward to seeing you and do hope you will enjoy your stay with us.

Visit the Blue Lagoon.
Do an ATV tour.
Reykjanes GeoPark Route.
Golf in Grindavik. 18 holes in beautiful surroundings where you start surrounded by lava and end on a links course with black sands and great overview of the Atlantic ocean. Something you can most likely not get anywhere else and is a must try for any golfer.
Snorkling in Kleifarvatn. This is like snorkling in a glass of champagne. Add this snorkling experience with a visit to Krisuvik.
Do like the locals and visit one of many swimming pools, heated water all year around, hot tubs, saunas etc.
It is also worth mentioning that staying at Northern Light Inn gives you a great access to all the most popular tourist attractions on the south of Iceland like:
The Golden Circle, 2 hours drive from us (but this is a whole day trip).
