“Really good customer service. I could give you the maximum stars if there was a possibility. From the check in to check out the service was great. It really felt so comfortable to ask for help and advice, also prompt response to the emails. Hats off to you all wonderful people. The restaurant staff too were amazing and kind, and very helpful. Actually I have no words, on how to express my thank you to all of you at Northern lights inn, from reception staff, to restaurant staff, to cleaning staff and staff at the spa. You do a great job. “Everyone was kind, helpful and solicitous. From the ride they helped to arrange from the airport to the hotel, to the ride (also arranged by them) to Reykjavik the next day, everything was perfect. It is a beautiful location with comfortable rooms and a lovely living room/game room area to relax in, along with an "Honesty bar", where you could get drinks or snacks and just sign for them on the honor system. The restaurant had excellent food, including a buffet breakfast. Staff there were attentive and efficient. The best part of staying there was the staff and the treatment of the guests--any question we had was answered promptly, both by email before we arrived and during our stay. We arrived much earlier than our check-in time but our room was ready so they allowed us to check in, giving us time to take a much-needed nap. The shuttle to the Blue Lagoon was included and took us as soon as we requested it, and came to get us as soon as we called.

Detailed plans were in place and explained to us as to the evacuation process, in case of any volcanic activity (not needed during our stay!) All in all, this was a tremendous experience and further confirmed our beliefs in the kindness and friendliness of the Icelandic people! I would definitely try to stay here again should I have the pleasure of visiting Iceland another time.“

“I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The amenities are top notch with even heated towel rack in the bathroom. The food at Max's Restaurant is amazing. We even got to experience the staff in an emergency. On Feb 8, 2024 I was awakened by a knock at the door with a pleasant smile and announcement, "Time to evacuate. We have an eruption." The staff was extremely organized and calm throughout the evacuation and all got out safe. It was surprising to see how close the eruption was to the hotel. Thank you all for an incredible stay. Thankfully a volcanic eruption isn't always on the agenda.”

“Last min-best thing we did!

We made a last min booking here and could not have been happier we did! Highly recommend this very special place to visitors. Originally we had plans to head to the city. This was a much much better move after landing coming to relax and unwind in the lagoon region. The hotel staff was attentive and super helpful. Loved it.”

“We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Northern Lights Inn and dining at Max's Restaurant, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! This charming, family-run hotel is a hidden gem. The rooms are modern, spacious, and impeccably designed, with incredibly comfortable beds and all the amenities we could possibly need. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to ensure guests feel completely at ease. We loved and really enjoyed the common area, games and self-service bar and snack area! A very refreshing perk.

What really sets this place apart is the staff. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like part of the family. Warm, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile, they handled every request with grace and enthusiasm. The location was perfect for our last day in the area and made for a seamless visit to the Blue Lagoon.

One unexpected highlight was the hotel’s open and transparent communication about nearby volcanic activity. The owners and staff not only ensured we felt safe, but went above and beyond with a well-thought-out and clearly communicated evacuation plan. Their primary concern was our comfort and safety, and we truly appreciated their professionalism and care. I know we missed the eruption by only a few days, but I am sure everything went smoothly and according to plan.

To top it all off, Max's Restaurant served some of the best meals we've had in a long time. We dined at Max's twice and the food quality and service were excellent.

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to end our trip, and we will certainly be back!

“I throughly enjoyed my stay at the Northern Light Inn. It was my first time traveling to Iceland and I was traveling solo - this was the perfect place to do some exploring and relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The onsite restaurant Max’s had a great view and delicious food. The hotel is within walking distance to visit the Blue Lagoon without the crowds of staying there. I loved the guest lounge area with comfy seating and honesty bar. The windows in the hotel rooms open for fresh air and offer great views of the lava fields and nearby geothermal plant. I can’t wait to come back and visit!”
